When they walked into class, there were 7 stations, each with their own robot, in pieces. Together with their partners they spent 45 minutes putting together an mbot; placing sensors, bolting motors, screwing in parts and connecting wires. Then came the true test, turning it on. Would it light up, beep and move? Or would it just sit there silent? All 7 robots came to life. These kids built all 7 robots by themselves!
Some came into class nervous, thinking they wouldn’t be able to complete the task but in the end they finished and their faces lit up with smiles at their accomplishment. Next came the first night of coding, writing commands to make the mbot move forwards and backwards, right and left. Some even jumping ahead learning how to light up the robots with different colors, creating their own colors from fuchsia to teal to neon yellow. We are so proud of them!
Up next the ‘Don’t Give Up’ class.
